REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

2. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Loosen the No. 1 wire adjusting nut.

NOTICE:

If the No. 1 wire adjusting nut has been removed from the rod, replace it with a new one.

3. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake equalizer as shown in the illustration.

4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake lever sub-assembly.

5. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Pull up the parking brake lever sub-assembly claw.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

(b) Remove the No. 1 wire adjusting nut and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake lever sub-assembly.

6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the screw and parking brake switch assembly.

Installation

INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE

1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the parking brake switch assembly with the screw.

Torque:

0.88 N·m {9 kgf·cm, 8 in·lbf}

2. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Pass the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly through the parking brake lever sub-assembly.

(b) Install a new No. 1 wire adjusting nut.

(c) Bend down the parking brake lever sub-assembly claw.

NOTICE:

Do not damage the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.

3. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the parking brake lever sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

Torque:

20 N·m {204 kgf·cm, 15 ft·lbf}

(b) Connect the parking brake switch connector.

4. CONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the parking brake cable assembly to the parking brake equalizer as shown in the illustration.

5. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL

6. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT

7. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET

(a) Install the No. 2 console box mounting bracket with the 4 bolts.

Torque:

15 N·m {153 kgf·cm, 11 ft·lbf}

8. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
