Toyota Yaris: Front Airbag Sensor / Installation

HINT:

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

The following procedure is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
1. INSTALL FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
CAUTION:
-
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
(c) for G16E-GTS:
(1) Engage the claw to hold the front airbag sensor in place.
(2) Install the front airbag sensor with the bolt.
Torque:
7.8 N·m {80 kgf·cm, 69 in·lbf}
NOTICE:
-
If the front airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.

When installing the front airbag sensor, make sure that the SRS wiring does not interfere with or is not pinched between other parts.

Make sure that the front airbag sensor pin (claw) is securely inserted into the body hole.

Tighten the bolt while holding the front airbag sensor because the front airbag sensor pin (claw) is easily damaged.
(3) Check that there is no looseness in the installed parts of the front airbag sensor. | |
(4) Connect the airbag connector. NOTICE: When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness. HINT: Refer to How to Connect or Disconnect Airbag Connector: Click here

2. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

4. INITIALIZATION AFTER RECONNECTING AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
HINT:
When disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary battery, there is an automatic learning function that completes learning when the respective system is used.

lid, and switch the ignition OFF.
To open the fuel-filler lid, pull
the remote fuel-filler lid release.

To remove the fuel-filler cap, turn it counterclockwise.
Attach the removed cap to the
inner side of the fuel-filler lid.
